Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 15, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information Backbend (the “Service”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to operate the Service for you. We do not sell your data.

2. Information you provide

When you create an account through GitHub or Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile image from that provider. When you configure agents, you provide prompts, settings, API keys, OAuth tokens, and files. All credentials are encrypted at rest using a per-deployment secret key.

3. Information collected automatically

We log basic request metadata (timestamp, IP address, user agent, route) for security, abuse prevention, and debugging. We record agent runs (prompts, tool calls, outputs, errors, token usage) so you can review and replay them from the dashboard.

4. How we use information

We use your information to operate the Service: run your agents, store their state, deliver messages across the channels you connect, surface costs and logs to you, and keep the platform secure. We do not use your prompts or outputs to train models.

5. Third-party providers

Backbend forwards prompts and tool calls to the model providers and integrations you connect (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, GitHub, browser automation runtimes, Linq for SMS, etc.). Each provider has its own privacy practices. Review them before connecting credentials.

6. Storage and security

Your data is stored on managed infrastructure with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Secrets (credentials, tokens) are encrypted with a separate key outside the primary database. Access is limited to the people and processes that need it to operate the Service.

7. Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. Agent run logs are retained for the period needed to support replay, debugging, and abuse review. You may delete individual runs, agents, or your entire account at any time; deletion removes the associated records from active storage.

8. Your choices

You can view, edit, or delete your agents, runs, and credentials from the dashboard. You can disconnect any integration. You can delete your account, which removes your data from active storage.

9. Children

Backbend is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International users

Backbend is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.

11. Changes

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be flagged on the login page or by email. Continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
